Alan Davies JP, DL
With successful careers in both business and education, Alan offers a unique depth of expertise to our Board of Trustees.
Now retired, Alan has had two distinct careers. Initially he entered industry latterly being Sales and Marketing Director for a large national engineering company. Although successful in his business Alan had always wanted to teach so he gave up his career to be a full-time student obtaining an education degree to teach business, finance, and economics in a secondary setting. In 2010 he attained his first headship in a Church of England school in Lancashire and in 2012 was appointed a National Leader of Education and involved with a number of D of E initiatives and advisory groups. In 2013 he was appointed regional spokesperson for academies and free schools in the Northwest. He was appointed Executive headteacher in his second school in 2013, a large secondary school in Cheshire. Both of his schools were outstanding schools, and both attained National Teaching School status under his leadership. Alan also helped over 50 schools nationally who were in challenge. His areas of particular skills being leadership, finance, and behaviour.
Alan is a committed member of the Methodist Church and formerly Chair of Trustees for all Methodist Schools in the country. Until fairly recently he was Chair of the Bench for Cheshire Magistrates and is now Trustee and Vice Chair of Southlands College, London, a governor of North Cheshire and Mersey NHS Trust, Independent Chair of Stop and Search for Cheshire Police and Deputy Lieutenant of Cheshire.
Alan is married to Gill, and they have 2 sons, 2 daughters by marriage and 3 wonderful grandchildren.
