We have kicked off sessions for 2018 in Cheshire East this week. Kacey has been planning events and activities around healthy lifestyle and getting active. In addition, we will be supporting those young carers who volunteered to be part of our Fitbit project that has been funded by Active Cheshire. The staff at Cheshire Young Carers have been leading the way with Fitbit challenges which are generating a healthy and competitive spirit amongst the team. There is more exciting news to follow about trips and experiences and we are already well in the way of planning our school summer holiday programme, so watch this space!
Meet the new member of the team
Joanne Evans-Stone joined CYC last week as an Administrator and to support our ongoing expansion of events across Cheshire. Joanne is a passionate Politics and Government graduate who has a background of voluntary work and fundraising – having been a young carer herself she is thrilled to be supporting the work that we do and is looking forward to an exciting and busy year ahead.
CYC value your feedback
We have received fantastic feedback on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/cheshireyoungcarers and we are delighted with the positive impact Cheshire Young Carers is having on young carers.
From Wirral Community Narrowboat Trust “Today’s trip 26th August 2017 – our guests were Cheshire Young Carers who gave us a couple of thank you cards at the end of the trip, the first time that has happened, and it was very kind of them to do that. It was an absolute pleasure to have such a lovely group of people on the boat”
“I cannot thank this group enough, my daughter has been having a fab time since joining at the beginning of this year. It gives her a chance and time to be herself, thank you so much”.
Drama at Cheshire Young Carers
Graham Phillips, Managing Director, met a creative team from the Everyman Theatre in Liverpool who are creating interactive activities for young carers in Cheshire. More details will be announced soon. This is a great example of an innovate approach to providing support for young carers in Cheshire.
